I am a qualified counsellor and a Registered, Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a member of the BACP, I practise in accordance with their ethical framework for good, sound practice.
My counselling approach is based on the humanistic model of counselling with my main focus coming from person-centred philosophy which means I recognise each client as a unique individual capable of personal choice and growth. I offer my clients a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment in which to explore and reflect on their issues and concerns. |
Whilst my original training prepared me to work with adults, I completed additional training to work therapeutically with young people. I have extensive experience of working with the 11-to-30-year age group achieved by counselling students at a university for four years, previously working for a charity counselling children and families and currently working as a counsellor within secondary schools. I hold an enhanced DBS check.
I have additional training in CBT, systemic, solution-focused and creative approaches to counselling and use my training and counselling experience to adapt my counselling style to suit the needs of each client.

SESSIONS
Each session lasts 50 minutes and during an initial session I will spend time getting to know you and to gain an understanding as to your expectations and what has brought you to counselling. An initial session does not commit you to further sessions, but allows us to find out if we feel we could work together.
Depending on your reasons for seeking counselling, six to 12 sessions (short term) may be sufficient, but I am happy to work open-ended for those who prefer to have no time limit.
